After a seven year absence from our screens the Doctor returned in 1996 with this lavish movie for TV. A co-production between the BBC and Universal, and screened first on the Fox Network in the U.S., this movie boasted superb production values and wonderful sets for the interior of the TARDIS. Played with enthusiasm by the talented Paul McGann, the Eighth Doctor cut a dashing, Heathcliffe-like figure as he battled his old enemy the Master (played by Julia Roberts' brother, Eric).
