David Bowie stars in this science fiction drama as a humanoid alien who comes to earth with the name Thomas Jerome Newton in hope to bring water back to his dying planet. Thomas realises he will need a vast amount of money in order to build a spaceship that will take him and the water back to his planet. So he builds a high technology company in order to make this money but once he begins to become successful he inadvertently becomes embroiled in a world a power and greed. Matters are made much worse when he falls in love with a woman, Mary-Lou. Now he must decide what is more important to him, his planet or his new world where he feels invincible. -M.F.
