World War Z
I have no doubt that the World War Z movie due to hit our screens in 2012 will be nothing less than amazing but you really need to read this book first. Possibly one of the most frightening stories in years it plays on natural instinct for survival and readily exploits the current threats we have experienced such as the hysteria over pandemics. Replace these with zombies and you have World War Z. It tells of our survival post zombie pandemic and the atrocities we face AND commit in order to remain at the top of the food chain. It also works well as a "mockumentary" as the story is comprised of interviews with military personnel, pharmaceutical company representatives, politicians and everyday people like us and the situations they were involved in, whether it was in direct combat with zombies and just plain surviving. This is a terrifying read but one that I recommend completely.
