    Description

    Release Date: 11 March 2002

"Songs in A Minor" is the smashing debut studio album by the renowned Manhattan born soul and R'n'B singer and songwriter, Alicia Keys. Besides being compared to established artists such as Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday; and Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys was noted for her ability to create a unique jazz influenced sound with her contemporary and emotive vocals and use of piano mixed with urban rhythms.

With this in mind and with chart topping singles such as the cool and collected ballad "A Woman's Worth" and, arguably one Alicia's biggest songs, the beautifully powerful "Fallin'", it is no surprise that this debut rocketed Alicia Keys into worldwide fame. The album won countless awards, including several presitigous Grammys, and was praised by Rolling Stone magazine by marking the record as runner up behind Bob Dylan's "Love and Theft", as the best album in 2001.

The Special Edition of this unmissable album includes two bonus remix tracks, one of which features Hip Hop star Busta Rhymes. (Justine Dench)
