"The Best Of" is the double disc special edition of the greatest hits album by the iconic Irish alternative rock band Ash, and is their third compilation album to date.
Recognised for their original take on the post-grunge rock sound, their music follows their set pattern of low, heavy chord progressions and throbbing bass lines, accompanied by excellent drum beats and lead singer Tim Wheeler's distinctive vocal stylings.
The album is compiled of nineteen tracks spanning their entire musical career of almost two decades, and features their classic hits such as "Girl From Mars", "Shining Light", "Goldfinger", "Burn Baby Burn" and many more. As well as their major hits, this record also includes lesser known tracks, such as a re-recording of their song "Jack Names The Planets", which was originally released on their debut "Trailer" in 1994.
This special edition of the album includes a second disc, a DVD, which contains the never before seen tour documentary "Teenage Wildlife", recorded in 1996 and narrated by Ewan McGregor. This DVD also has Ash's music videos (on DVD for the first time) for their hit songs such as "Burn Baby Burn" and "A Life Less Ordinary".
For many people, this band provided the soundtrack to their lives in the 90s, and now you can relive it all over again with this brilliant "The Best Of" album. (Cat Emerson)
