Celtic rock band Big Country were formed in 1981 and have subsequently experienced considerable popularity based on their pairing of a quintessentially traditional Scottish sound with modern instrumentation. “The Crossing” – the band’s debut album – was originally released in 1983 and enjoyed considerable success in the UK, Canada, and New Zealand.
This deluxe edition commemorates the 30 year anniversary of their formation in the form of an expansive 2 CD set made up of the original album and 24 bonus tracks on the second disc. The track listing includes hits from the original like "In a Big Country" and "Fields of Fire" but also makes room for b-sides, demos and out-takes including 10 previously unreleased tracks. Further still the package comes complete with a 20 page booklet that includes sleeve-notes by Tim Barr and previously unseen photographs that are certain to be of interest to fans anticipating their 30th anniversary tour.
