Birdy - Birdy CD

This is the long awaited debut self-titled by Jasmine Van den Bogaerde, more artistically known as the enticingly elegant singer, Birdy. This young budding talent was thrown into the limelight after winning the Open Mic UK competition in 2008, and since her beautiful rendition of Bon Iver's "Skinny Love" was released in 2011, she has been rapidly gaining admirers.

The album features the graceful single "Shelter", a powerful yet wonderfully melancholic XX cover that perfectly projects the pure talent this artist has. Her raw yet feminine vocals dance along with the entrancing piano and pull you into a moment of wonder and woefulness, leaving you wanting more. Birdy's interpretation of Cherry Ghost's "People Help The People" also features on the album and is yet another wistful track with poignant lyrics and added strings and percussion that bring the track alive with emotion.

This album will be a real treat for those who enjoy to get carried away into their own world. Fans of Sarah Blasko, Eva Cassidy and Ed Sheeran should definitely have a listen, you will be blown away. (Justine Dench)
