Returning to her soul roots after stints in both disco and gospel music, 'Who's Hurting Now' is Candi Stanton's first secular album in 24 years. Stanton draws on influences old and new, with different songs reminiscent of soul legends from Franklin to Winehouse, as well as a few country ballads. Lyrical content is also wide ranging, from social and political commentary to a song about Viagra ('Dust On My Pillow').
