    Description

    Release Date: 22 November 2010

Poker is delighted to complement its release of Conway Twittys first two albums for US Decca, with a second 2-On-1 that pairs his third and fourth albums for that label originally issued in 1967 and 1968 respectively. After gradually winning over those radio DJs who had been suspicious of his genre change from rock n roll, Conway was really bedding down as a country act by the time these two sets were issued. Within just a couple of years of their release, he would be the #1country male vocalist in the world, filling up trophy cabinets with award after award. Conway Country offers a selection of Conway originals and some exceptional versions of then-recent country hits by others. Its highlights include Walk Me to The Door, a Twitty com-position that had been a 1962 hit for Ray Price and that had given Conway the impetus to make a full time switch to Country, and Life Turned Her That Way written by the legendary Harlan Howard , an early and enthusiastic supporter of Conways change of direction. Heres Conway contains the mans first major country hit The Image Of Me, alongside more Conway originals and versions of recent hits by Twittys own heroes, among them George Jones and Merle Haggard.
