Helene Grimaud is one of the pianistic phenomena of our day, a true heir to the mavericks of the keyboard stretching back to Liszt. This revealing film tells her story, moving from early musical promise to a Paris Conservatoire education and star career with recording contract, through the point where her enduring love of the wild - and wolves in particular - caused her to break with the convention of that life. We see her at home in New York State where she founded her own Wolf Conservation Centre, we hear her talk about the pressures on a modern musician and life on the road and, of course, we hear her play, in particular Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto and the First Piano Concerto of Brahms.
