Ian Gillan is one of the most well known figures in rock music, with a career that stretches back more than 40 years to his beginnings in hard rock pioneers Deep Purple. But whatever band he was in, Gillan always retained a strong love for classic rock, and this strong sense of appreciation has always been reflected in his work. His eighth solo album "One Eye To Morocco" is no exception to this trend, although it also bears the unmistakable presence of an eclectic array of influences. When coupled with the experienced backing of the line up who were responsible for Gillan's electriying "Live in Anahiem" concert, this makes for a recording that demands attention. Tracks on the album that are especially noteworthy include the middle-eastern influenced title track "Texas State Of Mind", and "Change My Ways".
