Johnny Cash was one of the truly great songwriters of the 20th century beginning his career as one of the pioneers of the rock and roll movement with his own unique style of rockabilly in the early 1950's. His last studio recordings were made under the guidance of producer Rick Rubin which was a somewhat of a surprising state of affairs given Rubin's close association with the rise of hip hop music. “Remixed” is first and foremost a tribute to the life and work of Cash. This album features his material covered and remixed by contemporary artists like Philip Steir (Get Rhythm), Pete Rock (Folsom Prison), and Alabama 3 (Leave That Junk Alone) along with many more contributing their own unique spins on his rich selection of material from techno to punk. Also included is a DVD documentary of the making of the album. (Adam Bibby)
