Joy Division - Heart and Soul [Pozolli Box] CD

'Heart and Soul' was the hugely anticipated box set that Joy Division fans had been waiting so long for. Two CDs containing nearly every official release, another CD largely including rarites, a live CD, and an expansive booklet, make up this awesome collection.

Disc 1 (Unknown Pleasures Plus) - includes JD's first album on Factory Records ('Unknown Pleasures'), a few outtakes from the UP sessions, a selection of compilation tracks, as well as the 'Transmission'/'Novelty' single. The track 'Ice Age' was recorded in October 1979 during the same session that produced 'Atmosphere' and 'Dead Souls' which both feature disc 2.

Disc 2 (Closer Plus) - includes tracks recorded in late 1979 or '80 such as the 'Closer' album, the 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and 'Atmosphere' singles, an alternate version of 'She's Lost Control', and various out-takes.

Disc 3 (Rarities) - with sixteen unreleased studio recordings, including 'These Days', 'Dead Souls', and 'The Drawback', amongst many other hard-to-find tracks, this is the disc which JD fans will be looking forward to most of all. Also included is the fantastic track 'Walked in Line' which was recorded at the Unknown Pleasures session in Strawberry Studios, April '79.

Disc 4 (Live) – features live unreleased tracks from The Factory in Manchester (July '79), Prince Of Wales Conference Centre in London (August '79), Winter Gardens in Bournemouth (November 1979), and The Lyceum in London (February '80).

This set includes an 84 page booklet containing lyrics, a detailed discography, a sessionography and a biography, as well as a host of pictures. -J.M.
