    Description

    Release Date: 20 September 2010

'Postcards From a Young Man' is the tenth studio album from the awesome welsh outfit, Manic Street Preachers.

Following 'Journal For Plague Lovers', this album adopts a different sound, more true to previous releases such as 'Send Away the Tigers' and 'Everything Must Go' in the way that the use of gospel choirs and lots of strings are incorporated. Soaring vocals accompanied by expert guitar riffs make for great listening.

With such critical acclaim, guests were queuing up to work with the band on this album. Ian McCulloch lends his vocal talents to the track 'Some Kind of Nothingness', John Cale features on piano on 'Auto-Intoxication', and Duff McKagen plays bass on the fantastic 'A Billion Balconies Facing the Sun'. This box set comes fully equipped with a DVD containing the 'Making of' as well as footage of the band in the studio. Also included is a demo cassette version of the album, a 42 page scrapbook by Nicky Wire which contains handwritten lyrics, lists, and notes, as well as exclusive postcards for each track with original lyrics.

This is a perfect addition to the record collection of any fan of the Manics, or fans of great home-grown rock acts. (John Minard)
