On September 12th 2008, Death Magnetic, Metallica’s long awaited follow up to the highly controversial St. Anger was released. With the band spending over five years writing, recording and mastering the album, fans were eager to see Metallica return to their thrash roots, and so they did in nostalgic fashion!
Due to the length of the tracks on the album, much of the material was cut including four full length tracks entitled Hate Train, Just a Bullet Away, Hell and Back and Rebel of Babylon.
To celebrate their 30th anniversary, Metallica played a series of gigs to a selection of their dedicated fan club in their old stomping ground San Francisco. Each night the band unleashed a new track previously unheard by anyone but themselves. After an impressive reception from the fans, the band then decided to release these four tracks as an EP, called Beyond Magnetic.
This EP is for any fans of the pioneering thrash act Metallica, and from the words of James Hetfield himself, ‘These are not cast-offs’. (Matt Fairfield)

Good addition to Album
If you liked Death Magnetic then you really should get this. Any one of these tracks would sit perfectly on the original release. For the couple of quid that it cost I figured I had nothing to lose and the tracks on this CD was better than I expected. Metallica fans will definitely get their money's worth here. It's not worth going into detail for each track, just buy it!
