"Absolution" is the third album, following 2001's "Origin Of Symmetry", by English neo progressive rock band Muse. This album sees Muse cut back on their distinctive progressive flourishes, yet not losing any of their musical innovation, and also yielded the band's first American hits: "Time Is Running Out" and "Hysteria", the former becoming their first UK Top 10 single.
In 2006 it was voted the 21st best British album ever, and incorporates themes of fear, mistrust, personal achievement and joy. Bellamy said that the beginning of the Iraq War had an effect on their songwriting, and the track "Blackout" features an 18-piece orchestra.
