    Description

    Release Date: 06 February 2012

A man whose accomplishments are nearly unrivalled within popular music, Sir Paul McCartney's illustrious career began seriously in 1960 as part of The Beatles, arguably the most important group in the history of popular music but undeniably the most commercially successful. With Lennon in particular, McCartney formed a collaborative relationship and an unsurpassed fertility was evident behind dozens legendary songs that include “Love Me Do”, “A Hard Day's Night”, and “In My Life”. He has also enjoyed the most successful post-Beatles career out of any of the former members, scoring number-ones like “Band on the Run” (with Wings), “Ebony And Ivory”, and “Listen To What The Man Said”.

His fifteenth solo studio album “Kisses On The Bottom” will come as a surprise to many with its focus on a type of music that today, for most, is altogether unfamiliar. Paul presents the listener with an album which, in many ways, could be considered as a love letter to the Great American Songbook which so shaped the young McCartney's childhood. The recording pays homage to everyone from Fats Waller (I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter) and Johnny Mercer (Ac-Cent-Thcu-Ate The Positive), through to Peter van Steeden (When Shadow's Fall) and Harold  Arlen (It's Only a Paper Moon), along with many more classics of that bygone golden age.

This deluxe edition also contains extra content such as 2 additional tracks, “Baby's Request” and “My One And Only Love”, along with extended liner notes and an expanded packing that includes three extra postcards. (Adam Bibby)

    Really Enjoyable

A record to relax to, the arrangements and musician ship are really good, as are the song choices. You don't have to be a McCartney fan to enjoy this and he has hit the mark more than most others in this genre. As my wife said you can tell he is happy, and we have played this the last couple of Sunday afternoons, recommended.
