Written and directed by Prince himself, SIGN 'O' THE TIMES is an idiosyncratic, high-energy fusion of live music and vignettes of street life, specially filmed at Prince's Paisley Park Studios in Minnesota. Filmed on location at The Ahoy in Rotterdam during his 1987 Summer Tour, Prince and his band perform a blistering set of thirteen numbers, including Sign 'O' The Times, Little Red Corvette and Housequake.

This movie is an unrelenting synthesis of high-energy visuals, with neon signs flashing above the stage, suggesting the honky-tonk district of a big city. Sheila E, Boni Boyer and Cat provide rhythmic, vocal and physical pyrotechnics while Sheena Easton appears in a film within a film with her rock video U Got The Look. At the centre of things, in constant motion and driving the whole film forward is Prince, Minnesota's charismatic pixie.
