'Genius & Soul: The 50th Anniversary Collection' is the fantastic box set that includes 101 songs spanning five discs and is packed with hits from the one and only, Ray Charles.

Having topped the pop, R&B, and country charts, Charles has a wide range of hits and far too many to cram into one compilation. This collection, however, finds a nice balance and offers a synoptical overview of the career of a true legend. Concentrating more on his earlier R&B ('The Birth of Soul') and 'Blues + Jazz' work, the country aspect (e.g. 'I Can't Stop Loving You') is taken into consideration but with less focus.

Included in this compilation are such rapturous hits as 'I've Got a Woman', 'Georgia On My Mind', 'Shake Your Tailfeather', 'I Don't Need No Doctor', and 'Baby Let Me Hold Your Hand' plus many, many more. Liner notes by David Ritz, Billy Vera, and Bill Dahl are also included in this compact and sleek box set.
