    Description

    Release Date: 14 November 2011

"Fallen Empires" is the hungrily awaited sixth studio album by the renowned Irish indie/alternative rock band Snow Patrol, and is the follow up to their brilliant fifth album "A Hundred Million Suns", which was released in 2008.

The album is a melodic symphony of steady throbbing bass lines and drum beats entangling together to create a solid background for each and every song, with delicately strung together guitar melodies kept in the foreground. Lead singer Gary Lightbody's distinctive and beautiful vocals carry each song through, breathing life and passion into every word he sings, allowing the wonderfully written lyrics to ignite any emotion he desires within the listener.

Featured on the album is the lead single "Called Out In The Dark", an uptempo and upbeat catchy song, amply displaying the soulful and emotive vocals which allows the chorus to retain catchyness in a heartfelt way. Also included is the second single "This Isn't Everything You Are", a slower, more ballad-styled song, of which the melody is mainly led by piano and a single, plucked guitar throughout the intro. The song then swells and bursts in to an incredible chorus which is amplied by group backing vocals to turn the song in to an anthem of beautiful rising melodies and enveloping multiple vocals.

This album is yet another incredible and wonderful creation by the iconic band that is Snow Patrol, and promises to live up to fan's expectations on all accounts. (Cat Emerson)
