"Greatest Hits" is a compilation album of the best songs by the legendary English rock band The Police, who formed in 1977 and disbanded in 1986 after their lead singer Sting left to pursue a (successful) solo career.
These sixteen tracks span their entire musical career and bring forth fifteen top 20 hits, five of which reached number one in the charts, such as the world renowned song "Roxanne", "Message In A Bottle", "Don't Stand So Close To Me" and "Every Little Thing She Does In Magic", amongst many others. They achieved this kind of mainstream success and reception via their unique melodic sound, achieved by incorporating new wave, rock, punk and jazz elements and blending them together. This style of music was then fused with the catchy lyrics and hooks, making each chorus memorable and each song different with uptempo melodies.
Bringing together the best songs created by this iconic band, The Police chart smashing and successful musical career is compiled right here on this sixteen track disc. (Cat Emerson)
