    Description

    Release Date: 21 August 2006

"Voices Of Animals And Men" is the debut full length studio album by the British quirky indie rock outfit The Young Knives, and was released in 2006 as the follow up to their 2002 mini album "The Young Knives... Are Dead".

The album is named from the Adam And The Ants song "Animals And Men", and is an innovative blend of slick, jarring guitar and anthemic choruses in distinctive British accents, indie styled chord progressions and riffs, alongside steady throbbing bass and energetic drums. All the songs on this record are kept quite uptempo, delving upon all types of topics for lyrical subject and content, yet keeping it lighthearted and upbeat with an angsty twist.

Featured on this album are the singles "The Decision", "Here Comes The Rumour Mill", "She's Attracted To" and "Weekends And Bleakdays (Hot Summer)". With songs like these, it is evident that The Young Knives are quite playful when it comes to their music, with the music video for the song "The Decision" being a darkly humorous take on the classic horror/thriller film "The Wicker Man", and "She's Attracted To" as a meet-the-parents tale with a twist.

Keeping both humour and musical quality on a brilliant balance throughout, this record makes for a brilliant debut for The Young Knaves, and properly started off their career and gained them recognition in full form. (Cat Emerson)
