    Description

    It is 1943 and the Ashton family, at home or abroad, are all suffering the horrors of war. David Ashton gets ready for a night raid, John Porter starts work at the Town Hall after his unexpected return from the dead. Sheila goes to visit her children in Wales and is surprised when David arrives. New Year's Eve brings many secrets out into the open.

    David and Sheila Ashton's marriage is failing. David has a rich girlfriend in London while Sheila has a 'friend' too. Edwin quizzes Freda's pal about Freda's friendship with a doctor.

    John Porter takes a big step and returns to work, still shattered by his experiences with Resistance workers in Belgium. Freda pleads with Margaret to tell John the truth.

    Sheila goes to see her children in North Wales. She is worried that they will forget her and their real home. When David arrives she confronts him with a dramatic ultimatum.

    The Things You Never Told Me
    Margaret's mother-in-law decides to tell John the truth about Margaret's affair. New Year's Eve is explosive and an evening of many secrets being brought out into the open.

    Sefton wants to sell the family printing business - and Edwin along with it. David sells his shares to Sefton to raise money for his debts. Sefton's sister arrives from Australia.
