David Jason is the gritty and dogged Detective Inspector Jack Frost, a man who has little time for paperwork or the orthodox approach.

An 8-year-old girl goes missing. The last person to have seen her is Billy Conrad, a gentle young man with Down's Syndrome, but he seems to be hiding something.
* QUARRY:
Two people from an anti-hunting group are murdered. Investigations lead Frost to the local squire.
* DEAD MALE ONE:
Frost's Saturday is disrupted by the discovery of a body floating in the river. It turns out that he is not who he seems....
* NO REFUGE:
During a robbery at a local family-run glassworks, an employee is shot dead. The shooting is witnessed by the owner, who is then threatened and goes into hiding.
