Gangster Story
A tense, gangland thriller with up and coming gangster, Jack Martin (Walter Matthau) trying to infiltrate the territory of his rival while his girlfriend keeps the heat on to get him to leave the mob behind.
Beat the Devil
A classic detective story about a group of travellers who become stranded in Italy while their steam boat is repaired. Amongst them are a quartet of international crooks, (including Robert Morley and Peter Lorre) and the Dannreuthers (Bogart and Gina Lollobrigida). They are headed for Africa, presumably to sell vacuum cleaners but actually buy land supposedly loaded with uranium. They are joined by others with similar designs.
British Intelligence
During WWI pretty German master spy Helene von Lorbeer is sent undercover to London to live with the family of a high-placed British official where she is to rendezvous with the butler Valdar, (Boris Karloff) also a spy, and help him transmit secret war plans back to Germany and bomb the English cabinet.
