Blind fight is by turns gripping, dramatic and harrowing. The film recounts the extraordinary story of Brian Keenan and John McCarthy and their internationally famous imprisonment in the mid 1980's. Thirteen years after it's inception, the film's story is still universal and with themes and issues dealing with the trouble spots of the Middle East and Northern Ireland, still pertinent to the times in which we now live.
Written by first-time director Johnny Furse with Brian Keenan, and with John McCarthy's close collaboration, the film features two stunning performances from Ian Hart (Liam, Backbeat, The End of the Affair) as Brian Keenan and Linus Roach (The Gathering Storm, The Wings of the Dove) as John McCarthy.
Based on Keenan and McCarthy's No 1 best-selling accounts of their ordeal "An Evil Cradling" and "Some Other Rainbow" (written by Jill Morrell) the film shows how the Irishman and the Englishman, from completely different and potentially antagonistic backgrounds, share their deepest memories and fears. They discover a capacity for inner freedom, a joy for life and a compassionate humanity, which will embrace even their captors.
