The pace is unrelenting in the A&E department with Cyril and Charlie hardly finding the time to play corridor hockey. Among the new faces are SHO David Rowe, tough receptionist Sadie Tomkins and Outpatients' Services Manager Valerie Sinclair who immediately draws up battles lines with Ewart. The dramatic storyliners include a pretty blond motor mechanic who is paralysed when a vehicle falls on her; a social worker beaten by a child abuser; a teenage girl giving birth in the ambulance and a sudden death among the staff.
