In the peaceful village of Devil’s End something very strange is happening. A professor is preparing to open a nearby burial mound and a local white has foresees death and disaster. Meanwhile, the new vicar looks suspiciously like the Master and he is using black magic to conjure up an ancient Dæmon.

Devilishly good!
A favourite among longstanding 'Doctor Who' fans, this story pits the Doctor (Jon Pertwee) and Jo Grant (Katy Manning) with Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (Nicholas Courtney), Captain Yates (Richard Franklin) and Sergeant Benton (John Levene) against the Master (Roger Delgado). An archaeological dig unleashes an ancient power and terrifying power on an English village where most of the locals have fallen under the influence of the sinister Vicar. Aided by a white witch (Damaris Hayman), the Doctor uncovers alien science behind the seemingly Satanic phenomena but even he is unable to halt a process that will lead to the destruction of the human race... There has never been a better 'Doctor Who' cast than this classic early 1970s team whose mutual chemistry is evident in every scene. Jon Pertwee and Roger Delgado are, as always, commanding in their roles as rival Time Lords, and their human companions struggle convincingly to understand a situation beyond their understanding. Among the guest stars, Damaris Hayman gives a career-defining performance as the redoubtable white witch Miss Hawthorne (and it's a real treat to see her interviewed among the excellent collection of Special Features). The only reason I can't give this presentation the full five stars is the writers' (there were two of them in fact) slightly limp denouement. Of course, some of the special effects have dated badly, but that's nobody's fault. All in all, this is an immensely enjoyable story from the Golden Age of 'Doctor Who'.

Dr.Who The Deamons
The Deamons is my favorite adventure from the classic Dr. Who series that ran from 1963 to 1989. The whole story hangs together in a really nice way. UNIT and the Doctor really do play off each other perfectly. Captain Yates and Sgt Benton get to indulge themselves and those characters get a little more "padding". Katy Manning is really good with some great scenes of her own. But The Master shines in this story. The late Roger Delgado sinks his teeth into a cracking script that sustains itself over the whole 5 parts of the series. Loctaion work at Aldbourne in Dorset, adds to a faux "Wicker Man" feel. But the big selling point with this DVD must be the amazing restoration work done by 2entertain and the restoration team. If you only ever buy one classic series DVD,then this is the one to have. Great script, great acting and full restoration of sound and picture.

Yeti-Man
Dr Who - The Daemons
I first saw this story in the early nineties when they did a re-run of a couple of Pertwee stories - the other being Planet of the Daleks. I have highly revered it ever since. I used to own this on VHS along with Inferno. I have waited impatiently for the DVD release and now it's here it doesn't disappoint. Pertwee is at his zenith as the Doctor in what I regard as one of his strongest stories. Roger Delgado is at his most sinister as The Master before taking a well-deserved break as having appeared in every Pertwee story to this point. Cannot wait for Ambassadors of Death if this is anything to go by. Though it will have to go some length to beat this.
