Elephant/Last Days [Box Set] DVD

Elephant: Inspired by the tragic events at Columbine High School, Elephant won both the Palm D'Or and Best Director prizes at the Cannes 2003 Film Festival. Shooting on location in an everyday American high school, with a cast primarily made up of students from the surrounding area, Gus Van Sant develops an elliptical style previously established in Gerry and later expanded on in Last Days.

Last Days: Innovative and lyrical, Last Days is Gus Van Sant's meditation on the inner turmoil that engulfs a brilliant, but troubled musician in the final hours of his life. Starring Michael Pitt, Lukas Haas and Asia Argento, the film, though fictional, is inspired by the last days of Kurt Cobain. As with Elephant, Van Sant takes a much reported event and renders it in a uniquely insightful and powerfully affecting style.
