Roger Moore stars as the stalwart hero, Roger Slater, who uncovers a plot to release a vast underground lake in South Africa that would flood and destroy a major gold mine... dramatically raising the world price of gold.
The plot is being hatched by the mine's managing director (Bradford Dillman) along with an English financier (John Gielgud) against the mine's owner (Ray Milland). Slater uncovers the plot of dark deception whilst finding romance in the form of the owner's wife (Susannah York).
Slater is called upon to save the mine and its workers when the conspirators try to blow it up.
