The story of the Mancunian Film Company began in 1927 when John E. Blakeley made his first series of 'singalong silents.' His dream of opening a film studio in Manchester became a reality in 1947 when he fulfilled his ambition of "Northern films for Northern people." A stalwart of the Mancunian film studios was the great comic, Frank Randle. Holidays with Pay was Randle's fifth film for Mancunian and was made in 1948 at John E Blakeley's Manchester Studios and on location in Blackpool.
Randle's family visit Blackpool on their annual holidays but become embroiled in a murder plot and a haunted house.
