Release Date: 28 December 2009
Young women disappear one after another in drizzling rain. They all hear the "cursed song" of the Cage Song before they vanish into thin air. Kitaro (Eiji WENTZ) and his friends investigate these mysterious cases when they meet Kaede Hiramoto (Kie KITANO), a high school girl who finds herself involved in this mystery. With the help from the librarian of Yokai Library, they find out that the curse was caused by an evil Yokai that was released from 1,000 years of sealing. To save Kaede, they are to gather the 5 ancient musical instruments and perform the ritual to seal the evil Yokai again, which has to be done within 48 hours! In search for the ancient instruments, Kitaro and his buddies depart for three different points that the ancient map indicates Kitaro & Kaede head to "sky", the sacred mountain in Hakone, Cat-girl (Lena TANAKA) & Ratman (Yo OIZUMI) head to "land", Mt. Takao, and Sand Witch(Shigeru MUROI) & Old Cry Baby (Kanpei HAZAMA) head to the "ocean", off the coast of Miura peninsula. When Kaede realizes her fate, she gets lost in despair and starts to doubt Kitaro who is actually on her side. Meanwhile, Sand Witch meets the Water Well Hermit (Takashi SASANO), a wise old Yokai, who reveals that the curse began 1,000 years ago when the Watery Witch (Shinobu TERAJIMA) who fell in love with and married a human, Umihito (Masato HAGIWARA) had been captured by the villagers that disapproved their marriage. They summoned a group of demon slaying monks, the Black Sorcerers. The Sorcerers used their magic power to entrap Watery Witch and separate the couple forever. Discovering the truth, Kitaro and Kaede suffer over their identity. Kaede initially blamed the Yokai for the curse, but in fact it was the humans and her ancestor The Black Sorcerer. As they struggle with this plight, Yasha (SO Jisub), a foreign Yokai assassin appears and attacks Kitaro and his friends. As if to watch the show, another Yokai appears from the shadows. He's Nurari (Ken OGATA), the powerful and sinister ringleader of an evil Yokai group of Yasha, Serpent Witch (Shiro SANO) and Watery Witch, who plans to terminate all humans. He screams, "All the sins mortals committed have caused so much sorrow, so much hatred and many grudges. Kitaro, can't you hear the deafening silence of their grief? The world is on the edge of perishing forever, if we let the humans rule! Come with us, Kitaro!" Sly Nurari continues to torment Kitaro emotionally by revealing a secret about Kitaro and his lost tribe. The dark blade of Yasha attacks Kitaro again, and again... Will Kitaro be able to free Watery Witch from her curse, protect Kaede and the human beings from the evil Yokai, and also, overcome his destiny?
