Muffin the Mule was first broadcast on the BBC on October 20th 1946. Originally created in the 1930s by Fred Ticknet for puppeteers Jan Bussell and Ann Hogarth, it was not until 1946 when they were working with presenter Annette Mills (sister of Sir John Mills), that Muffin the Mule was named and used for a television appearance in an edition of For the Children. Muffin the Mule, with his signature tune "We want Muffin" became Britain's first and most loved TV children's character.
This 60th anniversary collectors edition DVD is the most comprehensive selection of original Muffin the Mule episodes ever released. The two disc DVD box-set contains all twenty of the existing episodes plus three unique extras including footage of The Hogarth Puppets world tour with Muffin, a film of Muffin meeting Sooty from the late fifties and a special colour film called Muffin and the Reluctant Carrot. Also included in the box-set is a 20 page souvenir booklet featuring the history of Muffin, with original photographs of Muffin, Annette Mills, Jan Bussell and Ann Hogarth.
