Based on the acclaimed novel by William Trevor, My House in Umbria is a charming, evocative drama about a group of travellers in Italy who find solace and friendship after being thrown together by tragedy.
It was supposed to be a routine shopping trip to Milan by train. Emily Delahunty, a successful romance author and lonely eccentric, shares her railway journey with eight strangers and, with a novelist's eye, observes her fellow passengers. But as the train rolls through the picturesque Italian countryside, a bomb interrupts the tranquil atmosphere, shattering the compartment and the lives of the people in it.
Starring Dame Maggie Smith (Winner of Best Actress Emmy Award for her performance as Mrs Delahunty), Ronnie Barker, Chris Cooper and Timothy Spall and directed by Richard Loncraine (Band of Brothers, The Gathering Storm), My House in Umbria boasts lovely Italian vistas and quintessential Englishness.
