The humorous tales of Horace Rumpole (Leo McKern) continue. Rumpole is a barrister who appears in the Old Bailey dealing with criminals, barristers, judges, and his wife Hilda, whom he calls in his thoughts : "She who must be obeyed".

In the fourth series, Rumpole has such an arrangment with "she who must be obeyed" that he walks out. He defends an eccentric spinster acused of being a government whistle-blower and after an army sergeant is found stabbed to death wearing a woman's dress, Rumpole is assigned to defend the accused murderer. And could it be Rumpole's last case when he makes extravagant horse racing bet which will allow him to retiure if he wins.

This 2 disc set contains all 6 episoides from series 4 and for the first time is fully sub-titled.
