A hero and gentleman nowhere save in his own mind's eye Souse is constantly harassed by his over-bearing wife and mother-in-law. He the kind of haughty loser in life who just can't see the wood for the trees. In this madcap town however he winds up, bizarrely, as a movie director when the real director when the real director is found even more soused than Egbert himself, and then as a hero by managing to unwittingly foil a bank robbery.
