    Description

    Release Date: 25 April 2005

The General is the indisputable masterpiece of one of the greatest comic actors of all time, Buster Keaton. An anti-heroic action-film with an anti-romantic love story, Keaton brings the film alive with his graceful style, wonderful sense of irony, brilliant gags and a rapt, love-lorn expression. Then, as a director (with Clyde Bruckman), he adds some superbly choreographed comic sequences, an accurate recreation of a Civil War escapade, hair-raising stunts, beautiful photography and an actual locomotive falling from a burning bridge into a deep gorge - pure genius.

On this special DVD, the original film has been digitally restored - frame by frame - and is accompanied by a symphonic score written and recorded by Joe Hisaishi, one of modern cinema's leading composers.
