Often dubbed the 'French Hitchcock', Henri-Georges Clouzot was a master of cinematic suspense, never afraid to explore the darker side of human nature. Initially working as a screenwriter, Clouzot hit his stride as a director in the 1940's with 'Le Corbeau', which had the distinction of being banned both by the Nazis and then later the victorious French forces.
The three films contained here are testament to the director's range, from the atmospheric thrills and tough guy posturing of 'The Wages of Fear' to the social realism of 'Quai des Orfevres'.
