    Description

    Release Date: 05 June 2006

Winner of two Academy Awards (1952) for Best Director and Best Cinematography.

Galway in the 1920s. After a long and profitable career as a boxer, Irish-born American Sean Thornton returns to his home village to settle down and forget an accident in which he killed an opponent in the ring. Sean buys back the Thornton cottage, incurring the wrath of neighbouring squire Red Will Dansher whose sister Mary Kate he's fallen in love with. With the drunk Michaeleen Flynn as marriage broker, and with Red Will reluctant to allow the courtship to go ahead, Sean Thornton has to battle against all manner of Irish blarney to get the hand of the girl he loves.

One of the most popular romances ever made, and featuring one of the classic fights in cinema history.
