    Description

    Release Date: 05 March 2012

From the incredibly imaginative mind of Hunter S. Thompson (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) and scripted and directed by Oscar nominee Bruce Robinson (The Killing Fields) comes this exhilarating adaption of the 1998 novel under the same name.

Johnny Depp takes on the role of another bizarre character from the imagination of Hunter for the first time since the cult classic Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Set in the 1950s, Depp plays Paul Kemp, an American journalist who has grown tired of life in New York and decides to take on a new challenge and write for a Puerto Rican newspaper called The San Juan Star.

Upon arriving in Puerto Rico Kemp is quickly drawn into the rum-drinking habits many of its habitants carry out on a daily basis. Quickly being introduced to a mixture of eccentric characters, Kemp settles in just fine, especially when he meets the beautiful Chenault (Amber Heard – Pineapple Express).

However, the closer Kemp gets to Chenault the more infatuated he becomes with her, giving him an excellent source of motivation to bring down her shady fiancée Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart – The Dark Knight) a shifty property developer who is taking part in a devious property development scheme. - Matt Fairfield
