1 million tons of steel. 100,000 lives at stake. 100 minutes to impact.
Frank (Denzel Washington) works as a train engineer and has done so for a while, he’s an average guy just trying to put food on the table for his family. Will (Chris Pine) is fresh out of training and joins Frank on his day. They’re not the best of friends and aren’t particularly suited to each other.
The pair are about to be united on a mission, a deadly mission. An unmanned train is hurtling down the tracks toward a populated town, and the train has no brakes. To make the matters worse, the train is filled with toxic chemicals. Everyone is at a loss what to do, until Frank decides it’s his duty to stop the train. Will unwillingly joins him and together they formulate a plan to stop the train before it decimates the nearby town.

Edward the whistle
Unstoppable
It makes a change for there to be a film about a railway, instead of someone just using it for travel. I was sceptical at first, thinking that it'd be a far-fetched and totally fancyful farce with nothing relating to the truth. Having watched it though, and I'm told its based on a true story, I have to say it was enjoyable. I think it shows up very well the relationship between old experienced hands and the know-it-all kids that come along to replace them, and the rapport between our two main characters is very true to life. If you've any interest in american railways, it'd make an enjoyable film to watch. If you like action-packed cliff-hangers, you'd probably enjoy it too.
