A most entertaining film showing Britain in the fifties.
This 1951 Nettlefold production was directed by Lewis Gilbert, who went on to direct a whole string of hit films, "Reach for the Sky", three "James Bond" films, "Alfie", "Shirley Valentine" and many more.
In this early work with the help of an excellent cast, the director shows his skills in making a fairly simple plot most entertaining.
Laurence Harvey is ‘Mag Maguire’ a likeable fairground boxer and Maxwell Reed, ‘Eddie Racer’ a motorbike daredevil rider. The mutual love interest is the lovely Susan Shaw. Good roles from Leslie Dwyer and Meredith Edwards.
