Alice: Madness Returns delves deep into the dark and violent side of the imagination, creating a nightmarish Wonderland where Alice must face the demons that haunt her visions. Visit the grim reality of Victorian London and then travel to the beautiful yet ghastly Wonderland to uncover the root of Alice’s madness and discover the truth behind a deadly secret, kept hidden for years.
Eleven years ago a horrific fire took Alice’s family from her and left her mind horrifically scarred. Afterwards she was confined to Rutledge Asylum, where she struggled to confront her demons by slipping further into her fantasy world of Wonderland. Now, after ten years, she has finally secured her release—yet she still bears the heavy psychological burden of that tragic event.

With her mind in tatters, she is unable to resolve the fear prompted by her strange memories, dreams, and visions. Perhaps she’ll do better in Wonderland. She always has. She travels there, seeking what the "real" world can’t provide: security, knowledge, and the truth about the past. But in her absence, Wonderland too has suffered. Something has gone horribly wrong, and now a great evil is descending upon what once was her beautiful refuge. Can Alice save Wonderland—and herself—from the madness that consumes them both?

A long and mad experience
At the beginning of Alice: Madness Returns, I have to say that this game is lacking a great hole that currently almost every game has. Game play duration... Alice: Madness Returns is really long; long enough for a player to soak up all the fun and joy a game should offer. Not a 5 or 6 hours one... Meanwhile, the story of the game really keeps the attention on the game. After each chapter, you will be curious as to what will happen next, or what will be the piece for the puzzle. Gameplay is mainly hack and slash combined with platforming, but different enemy types make the experience delightful because you may need to use two different weapons to kill an enemey. Also, due to sensitive controls, platforming is enjoyable... Furthermore, gameplay includes some other type of small games like 2D platforming... Puzzles are well prepared but from my point of view, they are easy. Alice: Madness Returns is a long, well designed, and mad experience to play...

Madness Returns
Having experienced a horrific fire Alice has retreated into her fantasy world of Wonderland but her experiences have warped and twisted it into a place of weirdness and danger. The graphics are brilliant and capture the feel of her world perfectly and there are a number of new characters, while the familiar ones are rendered with imagination and wit. The Madness Returs comes with a free download of the classic Alice from 11 years ago. It is beginning to show its age so you might want to get straight into the Madness Returns, if so a quick check on the net for the back story might be of help otherwise I'd save the original for a rainy day. Only one slight moan. It takes a little to long to come back after you 'die' but at least you get to come back. Overall it's one of the best games out this year.
