Travel through Ancient Egypt in Luxor – Pharaoh’s Challenge, the latest instalment in this puzzle series from Codemasters.
For newcomers to the series, the idea of the game is simple: the player controls a Scarab beetle that must fire coloured balls into each other as they roll along a path. Matching three of the same colour makes them disappear, and if the line of balls reaches the Scarab then the game is over. There are 88 unique levels to play through that get increasingly more difficult as the game progresses. Between each level a part of storyline will be explained, covering events from Ancient Egypt.
Gameplay features new additions in this title, previously unseen in the series. Bonuses called ‘Blessings’ can be now equipped before each level and these grant the player an advantage such as a cursor that predicts where balls will land, or slowing every ball down throughout the course of the level. Other additions include achievement badges that the player will earn as they complete complex tasks, and the ability to ‘level-up’ power ups.
A puzzle game with an exciting theme, Luxor – Pharaoh’s Challenge will appeal to both newcomers and fans of this series.
