Pearly Gates (Peter Sellers) is a Cockney thief, head of the gang responsible for a series of London robberies.

Everything goes well until the police start arriving with monotonous regularity to confiscate the loot. Except they aren't the police! And so Pearly decides to make a deal with the police to get this new gang off his patch. His plan is to arrange a robbery and getaway of his own...
