Writer-director Francisco Vargas's award-winning debut feature focussing on the struggle between peasants and the military in 1970s Mexico. Elderly violin-playing patriarch, Don Plutarco (Angel Tavira) secretly smuggles ammunition and supplies to the local freedom fighters trying to overthrow the government. When the military take control of the town forcing the residents to flee, the outwardly harmless Don Plutarco comes up with an ingenious way of circumventing the troops and recovering the much-needed ammunition.
