Tessa Piggott (Zoe Wannamaker), is changing her life... drastically. At 41, she is single, a successful high-flyer and tired of being the boss's mistress. She gives up her highly-paid PR job and her interior-designed flat to become director of a small third world charity.

Determined to devote herself to a new career she resolves to keep away from men, relationships and the trouble they cause. That is until she meets the charming Frank Carver (Adam Faith)... divorced ex-plumber and now a millionaire entrepreneur.

Total opposites, Tessa and Frank's paths keep crossing - through Frank's design rather than pure coincidence. As 'LOVE HURTS' unfolds the mismatched couple try to figure out how to have a relationship that doesn't hurt; they discover that love isn't always that simple...
