Description

The brooding Detective Sergeant Jim Bergerac of Jersey's Bureau des Etrangers remains one of TV's most popular detectives. the tough, recovered alcohic with a trademark red Triumph Roadster vintage sports car with a maverick cop who seldom saw eye to eye with his superiors.

With a guarantee of full-throttle excitement, ingenious plots and colourful characters, Bergerac patrolled the harbour cafes, cliff-top mansions and secluded coves on the trail of the villains, murders, spies and smugglers of the holiday island and tax haven.

1. PICKING IT UP: Jim Bergerac returns from a recuperation leave to find a job in jeopardy and a colleague killed during an investigation.

2. NICE PEOPLE DIE IN BED: The director of an overseas famine foundation is found dead in his hotel suite. But an autopsy confirms the doctor's suspicion that he didn't die in bed.

3. UNLUCKY DIP: Charlie Hungerford aks Bergerac for help when he receives a series of threatening phone calls, but is he hiding something from the detective?

4. CAMPAIGN FOR SILENCE: A string of apparent accidents suggests to Jim that someone is determined to prevent a Korean War veteran from publishing his memoirs.

5. SEE YOU IN MOSCOW: A civil servant exposed as a spy tries to flee to Moscow via Jersey, unaware that her Russian contact has been told to eliminate her.

6. PORTRAIT OF YESTERDAY: When a young curate is found unconscious in the church Bergerac's investigation leads him to a wedding where he is not a welcome guest.

7. LAST CHANCE FOR A LOSER: Jim is on the trail of an ex-golf pro following a spate of robberies, but if he gets no proof he'll have to allow his suspect to leave the island.

8. LATE FOR A FUNERAL: Bergerac investigates the mysterious death of a skin-diver, whose body is discovered with that of a wartime Luftwaffe pilot.

9. RELATIVE VALUES: Jim tried to discover who murdered Henry Bernard, the meanest millionaire on the island.

10. THE HOOD AND THE HARLEQUIN: A gangster's girlfriend is the only clue to his whereabouts. When Bergerac goes on her trail, he gets more than he bargains for.
