Early 1980s TV drama focusing on two families returning to normal life after WWII. In 1948, people are slowly re-adjusting to life after the war. Rationing is still in force, but with the Labour election victory, there's new hope for a better future. Two families, the Haywards and the Warringtons, are soon caught up, in differing ways, in the sea-change that is sweeping through the social life of Britain.
