Three decades, three different stories, If These Walls Could Talk 2 is a trilogy of tales about lesbian couples. In 1961 the aging Edith (Vanessa Redgrave, in an Emmy-winning performance) finds herself alone when Marge, her partner of thirty years, dies of a stroke. Their house was in Marge's name, and now her nephew wants to sell up. Edith is shell-shocked, unable to explain to Marge's family the nature of their relationship, and therefore seen by them as nothing more than a good friend who has no claim on her property.

Leaping forward to 1972, a group of students must face their own prejudices, exploring their sexuality and try to get lesbian issues heard at college. When the quietest of the group, Diane (Heather McComb) meets leather-clad biker chick Amy (Chloe Sevigny), the two begin an affair, much to the disapproval of Diane's friends who believe that lesbians should try to lose the macho image that Amy very much embraces.

The final episode, set in the present day, stars Ellen DeGeneres and Sharon Stone. Fran and Kal are a couple trying for a child, and in search for a suitable sperm donor. It follows them from doctor to doctor, clinic to clinic, all the while highlighting how much more acceptance there is in today's society.
